One day someone I called asked me why I was cold calling if I was so good at marketing.

or spreading my omnipresence to those who aren't even looking, or keeping a massively full pipeline of leads, or getting double booked!!
Consider this a law of business.
If you wait until you're looking for work, before you actually look for work, you're already behind the eight ball.
If you want commercial contracts, try cold calling local businesses. If you're a roofer or solar installer, try door knocking some hoods.
Or if you focus on domestic, you want to be in that search results so when they need it done, you're there.
Fill your pipeline till it bursts. Being hungry for business isn't some shameful thing, it's a reflection of your commitment.
