Right now, a lot of you are talking about social media.
Some of you are even saying "Alan, I don’t need a website, it’s all social media anyway!".
Look, if you see the value of social media, you’re right.
But if you’ve only just realised the value of social media, you’re in for a rude surprise.
Facebook is dying.
What is currently happening right now is an exodus from Facebook.
The kids aren't using it.
The teens aren't using it.
Young adults aren't using it.
What are we left with?
Put it this way, if you sell viagra or retirement homes you still love Facebook!
Competition are being created every day.
Billions of dollars are being floated around the tech industry right now.
Disruption is on the daily menu.
One day we’re going to wake up and realise, this thing is a ghost town with a few cans rattling around.
Just like what happened to Myspace.
Instagram is doing a little better than Facebook but...
Even that platform is rapidly losing its ‘hegemony’ with more and more alternatives surfacing that can better service its users.
Does this mean you shouldn’t use Facebook?
Of course not, it’s still a tool to be used.
Like a lot of you are finding out, Facebook and Instagram are great business tools.
They bring attention to your business.
Use it until it’s death is official.
Until you’ve got so many other newer, more effective channels that you won’t bother using it.
But don’t ever think social media replaces your website.
Social medias are channels to get attention.
“I’m not looking to get attention Alan, I just want to show people I’m a real business.”
Good, that’s a form of attention.
Your website however is where you convert that attention into intention.
More job leads.
Better impression for builders.
Commercial contracts.
Whoever is looking you up.
Whatever you want.
Your website is where you start having a conversion with someone.
Facebook is dying.
You know what isn’t dying?
Websites.
You know what social medias are?
Websites.
You know what the value of a website is?
Tremendous.
Are websites over in 2022?
Hell no, but certain social medias are.
It’s always going to be a shifting landscape.
Websites will always remain the bedrock, the foundation to your brand.
Expect this not to change, but to become even more true as we head through 2022 and beyond.
As switched on business owners we’ll use all the tools at our disposal to bring our businesses up and reach the heights of success.
Online or offline, we want to dominate everywhere!
Let's roll!
