On your home page, you want:
#1 - Coronavirus Reassurance
#1 - Hook Headline That Captures Attention
#1 - Single Call To Action (CTA) To Use Contact Form
#1 - CTA Different Colour To Colour Scheme
#1 - Highlight Product, End Result, Free Or Saving Money
#1 - Location And Services Made Obvious
#1 - Phone Number To Call (but NOT the main CTA)
#1 - Pictures Of The Business In Action (eg. your team in branded apparel, your vehicles with signage, etc)
#1 - Official Reviews, Accreditation, Certification
#1 - Leverage Well Known Clients, Partners, Suppliers
#1 - Some Kind Of Guarantee
#1 - Video If Possible
Example of a highly converting Above The Fold
And you want that all within the top of the website, before they have scrolled down at all.
That section of your website is called Above The Fold (ATF).
It’s what they see when they first land on the page, and give it that 3 second judgement call…
On whether or not they should stay there.
The rest of the page (and entire website) is important too, and we’ll cover that soon.
But first you need to realise the importance of this…
The above formula is KEY to winning that 3 second battle for attention.
Even if you nail most but not all of that, you’re going to get more leads.
And if you nail all of that? And the rest of the website?
You’re going to have multi million dollar turnover, guaranteed.
Now let’s move on the the rest of the website.
You’ll want the standard 5 page tried and trusted combination of Home, Services, Gallery, About and Contact.
Some visitors are never going to scroll down that first page, they’re going to hit the menu.
These are five critical pages. Each one providing a logical pathway for the visitor as he increases certainty.
The next thing you’ll want is five Service pages, each one detailing a major service you provide.
This helps the visitor dive a bit deeper into what you’re offering, and it’s also crucial for good SEO.
Finally, you’ll want the extra pages that really drive home the win. We’re talking Testimonials (even better if they are video testimonials). Warranty & Guarantee. Privacy Policy. Careers. Service Areas.
By making Service Areas a page of its own, we’re showing Google a complete list of your suburbs (hint hint).
The 12 Rules of Thumb for Conversion Rate Optimised Copywriting...
As for the professional copy, we want to follow these basic rules of thumb:
#1 - Keep It Simple, Easy To Read
#1 - Avoid Large Blocks Of Text
#1 - Avoid Too Small Text
#1 - Problem And Solution
#1 - Pain Point (Reason To Take Action Now)
#1 - Focus On Benefit, End Result
#1 - Focus On Free Or Saving Money
#1 - Project Your Benefits Over Time
#1 - Show Others Benefiting From Your Service
#1 - Bring In Other Third Party Proof
Basically, talk about them not you, and give them a reason to take action now.
And throughout we want to be using photos or videos of YOUR BUSINESS in action, not those trust-killing stock photos…
Yeah, those ones you (and every other Tom Dick and Larry) are using…

#1 - Simple Contact Form
#1 - Fast Page Speed (under 3 seconds)
#1 - Compressed Images (with ALT text for Google)

#1 - CTR Optimised Meta Descriptions
#1 - Indexed with Google Search Console
